A huge amount of Parishioners were present for the Ash Wednesday service at Rawathawatta which symbolizes the start of the lent season. The service was conducted by the Parish Priests and by Rev. Fr. Nishan who is from Australia and is on a visit to his home town of Moratuwa.

A booklet containing all the prayers and hymns relevent to the lent season was also made available to the people, in both Sinhala and English. The Youth Group of Rawathawatta also endanged in fixing the cross which symbolizes the lent season.
