On the 17th Of May 2010 the enormously heavy down pour flooded many of the Moratuwa area. The Queen Of Angels' Church was under the threat of flooding due to its situation in a geometrically low area. As the towns drainage system failed confronting this rare down pour the church grounds as well as the adjoining convent grounds was flooded.

As the water level rose the church was in the verge of imminent flooding, and as the water started to go over the foundation, the miraculous Mother Mary prevailed. The unforgiving down pour was dimmed and the water that breached the church foundation was sent back preventing any flooding into the church as shown in the pictures.
