The traditional sea blessing of the Angulana St. Francis Xavier's Church was conducted with the presence of the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Tyronne Perera and Sister in charge of Daham Pasal Rev. Sr. Rangani A.C. The blessed statue was taken in a boat to key fishing points where the sea was then blessed. Over 12 boats representing various fishing families of Angulana and Ratmalana escorted the statue throughout the sea. They prayed for his intervention to recover from one of the worst fishing seasons in their history further mounting was the fact that the beach of Angulana has started suffering from sea erosion, putting their lively hood at risk.

The miracle of St. Francis Xavier was also remembered where 27 years ago he prevailed when the Row boat carrying the devotees and the Parish Priest sank off the coast of Angulana, however not a single person was hurt nor injured and the devotees and the statue and crown was also returned safely to the shore though no one in the row knew to swim.
